Meet Mike Sullivan
Mike Sullivan, a nationally recognized sports artist and muralist, was born outside of Buffalo, NY. From an early age, he was drawn to visual expression through drawing and painting. His passion developed further in Syracuse, NY, where he studied figure drawing at The Everson Museum. A move to Detroit connected him with advanced painting techniques thanks to an inspiring high school art teacher.
He pursued his formal art education at the Center for Creative Studies College of Art in Detroit, Michigan, majoring in illustration and fine art—foundations that would shape his career as one of the most sought-after sports artists in America.
From Paintings to Game Art: A Career in Motion
Mike launched his professional career on the East Coast, creating graphics for tech giants like IBM, Sony, NEC, and Ericsson. He soon transitioned to the video game industry in NYC, producing graphics and animation for blockbuster titles from Nintendo, Sega, and Sony—such as The Simpsons, Home Alone, EA Sports, and Star Trek.
While living in Manhattan, Mike also studied at the Art Students League of New York, and his illustrations began appearing in magazines and publications worldwide.
Painting the Legends: Murals and Commissions
After moving to Southern California, Sullivan began exhibiting original paintings, limited editions, and custom commissions to collectors, corporations, and professional athletes. His distinct “chiseled” style and dynamic compositions quickly attracted a growing base of collectors and fans.
